Step 1: Combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir with a whisk to combine.
Step 3: Using a pastry blender, cut butter into flour mixture until it resembles course crumbs.
Step 4: Combine buttermilk, egg and green onion, stir with a whisk to combine. Add to flour mixture.
Step 5: Add cheese and mix with a fork until just combined. Transfer to a very lightly floured surface and use your hands to fully incorporate all ingredients.
Step 6: Pat dough into 8-inch round disc. Cut into 8 wedges.
Step 7: Carefully transfer to lined baking sheet and bake in 350° oven for 18-20 minutes or until tops are lightly browned.
Step 8: Remove from oven and brush with butter and garlic salt mixture.
