Cast Iron Dutch Baby With Apples

This Cast Iron Dutch Baby With Apples is a great breakfast that is sure to impress! The puffy baked pancake has sweet, thinly sliced apples and savory bacon throughout. Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked crisp and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Melt butter in 10-inch cast iron skillet over medium heat for about 3 minutes or until fully melted and beginning to brown. Remove from heat.

  • Lay apple slices in the bottom of the skillet, covering the bottom and overlapping slices a bit. Sprinkle bacon over the top of the apple slices.

  • In a blender, combine the eggs, flour, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Blend until flour is fully incorporated, scraping sides and bottom as needed if flour sticks.

  • Pour egg mixture over the top of apples and bacon. Place skillet in 425°F oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top. Remove from oven, let cool for 2 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
